2017-2018 ELECTIONS

Board Descriptions and Responsibilities:

President:  The President shall be the chief executive officer and shall exercise general supervision over the affairs of the Chapter consistent with policies established by the Board of Directors.  The President shall be a direct or allied member in good standing and an GBTA member.  The President shall preside at all meetings of the members, and at all meetings of the Board of Directors; shall be the principal spokesperson for the Chapter and serve ex officio on, all committees, and in general shall perform all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.  The President is a member of GBTA and serves as liaison between GBTA and the Chapter, and shall attend all Chapter Presidents’ Council meetings. The President shall represent the Chapter at the National GBTA Convention each year. If the President is unable to attend, those responsibilities are assumed by the Vice-President, with the Treasurer, Secretary following in the order of succession.

Vice President:  In the absence of the President, or in the event of the President’s inability or refusal to act, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the President.  The Vice President shall perform such other duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors or the President.  In the Secretary’s absence, the Vice President will be responsible for maintaining non-financial records of the Chapter, including but not limited to minutes of Board of Director meetings and Chapter meetings.

Secretary:  The Secretary shall give notice of all Board of Director and  Chapter meetings unless the President or Vice President choose to do so; shall keep all non-financial records of the Chapter, including but not limited to minutes of Chapter and Board of Director meetings; and shall perform all other duties assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.  The Secretary shall provide to the membership minutes of the previous monthly members meeting at or prior to each monthly meeting regarding any Chapter business which occurs at the meeting.  Additional responsibilities include but not limited to: Administering Chapter Surveys, name badges, keeping subcommittee notes as needed, meeting signage as needed and maintaining name directory of board and committee members.

Treasurer:  The Treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining the Chapter’s financial records, keeping correct and complete records of account, showing accurately at all times the Chapter’s financial condition.  The Treasurer shall be legal custodian of all monies, notes, securities, and other valuables that may come into the Chapter’s possession.  The Treasurer shall, as soon as reasonably possible, deposit all funds of the Chapter coming into his/her hands in a reliable bank or other depository approved by the Board of Directors, and shall keep such bank account in the name of the Chapter.   The Treasurer shall furnish a statement of the financial condition of the Chapter to Board of Directors monthly, and at any time upon request by the membership and GBTA. The Treasurer shall furnish a statement of cash flows and an income statement to the membership in January for the preceding fiscal year and in July for the first half of the current year.  The Treasurer shall perform such other duties as the Bylaws may require or the Board of Directors may prescribe.  

Allied Representative:  The allied representative is elected by the allied members of the chapter and serves as a voice for the allied members to the Board of Directors.  The allied representative will serve on the membership committee and shall perform other duties from time to time prescribed by the Board of Directors or President.

Direct Representative:  The direct representative is elected by the direct members of the chapter and serves as a voice for the direct members to the Board of Directors.  The direct representative will serve on the membership committee and shall perform other duties from time to time prescribed by the Board of Directors or President.
